"The only ethical decision is to take responsibility for our own existence and that of our children."

Bill Mollison, the Australian father of Permaculture

At Pacific Pie Company, we take our responsibility to the earth, our community, and future generations very seriously. Each time we need to make a decision, we think about how to achieve our goals with the least amount of impact on the earth. Here are just a few ways that we promote sustainability within PPC.

Local, Seasonal & Organic Ingredients

By buying local and seasonal produce we are supporting small-scale farms and reducing the "food miles" of our ingredients.  Organically grown food promotes biodiversity, protects local ecosystems and supports soil fertility.

Packaging

We strive to use packaging made from recycled, recyclable, and compostable materials.  Plus, eating a hand-held pie means no bulky containers or excessive packaging to throw away!

Composting

All of our food scraps are sent to a composting facility.  This recycles our carrot and potato peelings into nutrient rich compost that can be used to grow food and flowers.  Keeping compostable items out of landfills also reduces the amount of landfill methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.

Reduce & Reuse

There is a tremendous amount of waste in the food service industry.  We are always striving to streamline our production methods to minimize waste and energy use.  When we need to buy equipment, we prefer to buy second hand and refurbished items.
